Welcome to online discussion forum for the 2026 meeting of the Society of Canadian Ornithologists! This is the place to chat about the workshops, presentations, social events, and anything else meeting-related. Didn’t get to ask your burning question? Ask it here! Want to brainstorm ideas or look for collaborations? This is the place for you.
You can create topics for general discussion right here in the meeting category, but there are also four subcategories to help focus discussion. You can find them using the Subcategories dropdown at the top of the meeting category. They are:
- Workshops
- Cross-Country Showcase
- Scientific Program (Student Presentations)
- Social Events
Topics have already been created for each workshop, social event, and cross-country showcase presentation so you can browse or search for the most relevant place to ask your question or add your comment.
Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of the Roost during (and beyond) the meeting:
- To post, reply, or receive notifications on the Roost you need an account. You can create one by clicking “Sign Up” at the top. If you have ever created an account for NatureCounts, Motus, or Birds Canada Learn, you do not need to create a new one! Simply use your credentials from those other programs.
- For more information about using the Roost and Discourse forums more generally, click on About in the left-hand menu.
- To adjust your notification settings for the SCO-SOC meeting category, navigate to the category and click the bell icon in the upper right.
- There is a Discourse app, which makes accessing the Roost on your phone a little smoother. The app is free for both Android and iOS.
- More information about the meeting, including the program, can be found at the link below.
- Beyond the SCO meeting, the Roost is a great place to stay informed and up-to-date on what’s happening in the Canadian ornithological community, and to collaborate and discuss! You can adjust your email notification settings in your profile, accessed by clicking on your image in the upper right, to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
Thanks for exploring the Roost, and have a fantastic meeting!
