CanAvian: Furthering Biodiversity Research Through A National Data Space
Addressing today’s conservation challenges increasingly depends on independently developed biodiversity data systems working together. The Canadian Network of Avian Data (CanAvian) connects NatureCounts, Motus, the Boreal Avian Modeling Centre, and WildTrax to formalize collaboration and strengthen interoperability through shared governance and standardized data exchange. By aligning data practices and standards, reducing duplicated effort, and building sustainable partnerships, we aim to ensure biodiversity data remain accessible, well-managed, and useful for the communities, researchers, and conservation organizations that rely on them.
