Hi folks, Looking for recommendations for robust (semi)weatherproof cameras for use in the field, especially for nest monitoring. At this time, I don’t need infrared, but I haven’t bought new cameras in a long time so I am curious what folks are using these days. In the past, I’ve used GoPro and Sony Handycams with continuous recording to collect data on fine-scale behaviours at nests of breeding birds, like provisioning, egg laying, or even egg destruction or predation. Not sure if these are still the best options for balancing quality and cost. Cheers!

I don’t know if she’d still have them - it’s been over 12 years since I last worked with her in the prairies monitoring songbird nests, but Dr. Nicola Koper used cameras to monitor prairie songbird nests. They were heavy and ground-based if I recall since the nests were on the ground.
